the kitchen table is an experiment utilizing projection mapping to reveal and amplify the generational intersections of Black Womxn, inspired by Carrie Mae Weems’ photo series of the same name. Captured through an assemblage of image, video, choreographed text, and movement; the piece follows a young black womxn as she cycles through the grandiose complexities of non-white womxnhood, motherhood, relationships, and the transformations inherent in life. Part ritual, part performance, the kitchen table is an homage to the black womxn who have built the world over and again.
